The CMS trigger system
This paper presents an overall description of the CMS trigger system which is composed by the Level-1 Trigger and the High-Level Trigger subsystems. Details on the algorithms and selection criteria at a luminosity of 2x10 33 cm-2 s-1 are provided. High efficiencies for benchmark physics channels are attainable with an inclusive selection that avoids detailed topological requirements on the event.
متن کاملCommissioning the CMS trigger with cosmic rays
The CMS experiment has collected about 300 million cosmic ray events. This has provided an excellent opportunity to test the trigger and prepare for the LHC collision data. This paper describes some of the L1 trigger studies we performed with these events.
متن کاملThe Rpc System for the Cms Experiment at Lhc 1 Cms Detector 2 Cms Muon Trigger
The CMS experiment designed for Large Hadron Collider is brieey described. An idea of a muon trigger based on RPC is presented. This talk focuses on the requirements on RPC as the trigger detectors for the CMS. We discuss the required chamber's parformance and segmentation. Current design of the system fulllling these requirements is presented. Its expected trigger performances are given. The a...
متن کاملThe Trigger Supervisor of the NA48 experiment at CERN SPS
The NA48 experiment aims to measure direct CP violation in the K0 L decays system with an accuracy of 2]10~4. High performances are required to the trigger and acquisition systems. This paper describes the NA48 Trigger Supervisor, a 40 MHz pipelined hardware system which correlates and processes trigger informations from local trigger sources, searching for interesting patterns. The trigger pac...
متن کاملCMS REGIONAL CALORIMETER TRIGGER HIGH SPEED ASICs
The CMS regional calorimeter trigger system detects signatures of electrons/photons, taus, jets, and missing and total transverse energy in a deadtimeless pipelined architecture. This system contains 20 crates of custombuilt electronics. Much of the processing in this system is performed by five types of 160 MHz digital ASICs. These ASICs have been designed in the Vitesse submicron highintegrat...
